Oh Baby

Dear Baby,

Oh boy... pregnancy sucks. So far, morning sickness is the worst part. Even that wouldn't be too terrible, but today has had some twists and turns.

When I got into the office this morning, it was really hot. That's unusual. I ordinarily have to wear a jacket all day. Instead, the guys came in and immediately started complaining. I didn't mind it too much at first. That is, until after lunch when it got SO warm that I had continual recurring morning sickness. In addition, I'm tired all the time and the heat just makes me want to sleep that much more.

There's still two hours before work ends, but I'm hoping Mike lets us leave a little early... you and I need a good nap.

All my love,
Jill

A Bun is Clearly in the Oven

Dear Fetus,

Well, I'm definitely pregnant. I was going to wait until Friday to take a pregnancy test, but your dad and I got a little bit curious and decided to see what would happen if I took one last night. Apparently, I'm so pregnant that the test didn't even need the full three minutes to make a decision.

Fetus, I must say, you're quite decisive. I like that. You remind me of me. :)

We wanted to be really certain though, so we used a second test...

Prego Test Numero Dos

Pregnancy Tests 1 and 2

The plus side is that we won't have to fight about what your name will be. We already have a boy's name and a girl's name all picked out.

If you're a girl, your name will be Jane Harper Haskett.

If you're a boy, your name will be Joseph Edward Haskett.

Now we just have to wait to find out if you'll be our little Janey or JoJo.

All my love,
Mom

Bun in the Oven?

Dear Possible Baby in my Tummy,

I'm very worried that you're in there right now. I've always wanted to be a mother, but I don't feel like we're ready to take care of a beautiful new life yet. We aren't financially stable and we're both really busy. Your dad has school starting soon and he's trying to get a job. In the meantime, he's attempting to potty train a puppy that would much rather pee on our carpet. As for me, I'm at work all the time. I'm the one making money and I need to keep supporting our little family. Once you come, I'll be a stay-at-home mommy who can't help as much with the bills. I get a little worried about making your daddy the one who has to go to school and make all the money. It seems like it would be a lot of work.

But then again, maybe you aren't in there. Here are the signs I have so far that your dad and I have produced you:
  • There have been a couple days when I've had trouble getting into my jeans
  • I've been eating more than usual
  • I've had weird cravings for salad, Pepsi and buttermilk ranch dressing
  • I've been randomly sick at different moments during the day
  • Everyone keeps telling me they think I'm pregnant
It seems quite clear to me what's going on... your dad disagrees. In a way, I hope he's right because I want to be able to provide the best possible life for you, and I'm not sure we can do that right now. At the same time, I hope I'm right because otherwise I'm just crazy and paranoid. The truth is, I really, REALLY want you, I just want to be able to do right by you. You deserve the best, unborn baby.

And if you are in there, please go easy on me... pregnancy is sort of terrifying. Also, when you get here, give us a break every now and again. We have absolutely no clue what we're doing.

All my love,
Jill
